Ethics. An album of photographs of the 1934 racing season at Calcutta

An Album of photographs from the December 1934 Calcutta Racing Season featuring Mr A C Ardeshir’s winning Australian horse “Ethics”. The album contains 23 professional photographs, each approximately 11 x 9 ins, the facing side of black card leaves only by gold coloured corner mounts [so that each picture is removable without damage if required]. The album belonged to the family of Mr A C Ardeshir, a wealthy Bombay Parsee and keen racehorse owner. The photographs include: Ethics winning the King Emperor’s Cup, the Viceroy’s Cup, and the Hilliard Cup; presentations by the Viceroy; Lord Willingdon arriving at the Course; the Governor of Bengal in his carriage; Mr Ardeshir with Ethics; the races, etc. There are a further three loose photographs showing Mr Ardeshir with Ethics and holding a gold cup. There is still a Gold Cup race at Mumbai which bears Mr Ardeshir’s name as he was president of the Western India Turf Club. The album, 17 x 12 ins overall and with additional blank leaves, is bound in gold coloured cloth with a blue silk stripe, the colours of Mr Ardeshir’s racing silks
