107th Foot, Bengal Infantry, brass 25mm

The 25mm OR’s brass button has the  backmark FIRMIN & SONS LD LONDON and is in verygood condition for a brass example. The 107th, the 3rd Bengal European Regiment, was one  of the regiments taken into the British Line after the end of the East India Company because it was formed from Europeans who had remained loyal during the Mutiny. The button was worn from 1862 to 1881 although the regiment did not come to England until 1875. After 1881 it became the 2nd Bn The Royal Sussex Regiment.   jan26/5   SOLD 31st  January 2025
