12th Frontier Force, Sam Browne’s Cavalry. Officer’s hall marked silver cap badge, 1920s

The silver cap badge, hall marked London 1922-23, shows a mounted sowar with drawn sword within a garter bearing the title XII CAVALRY F. F. all beneath a Tudor crown. It measures 37 x 22 mm and is hall marked on the back of the garter London 1922-23 with a slightly indistinct maker’s mark. This badge is of the same basic design as the example shown in Ashok Nath: Izzat p461 C2.17.01 but differs in the wording as the example he shows reads SAM BROWNE’S XII CAVALRY. apr18/2
