12th (Suffolk) Regt. of Foot, Victorian officer’s gilt button 25mm.

A good example of the 25mm officer’s gilt button of the 12th (Suffolk) Regiment of Foot with the backmark  PITT & Co. 50 ST MARTINS LANE LONDON. This is the pattern worn from 1855 to 1881.  The shank has is little bent where the back of the button has been pressed in at some time. In 1959 the regiment was amalgamated with the Norfolk Regiment to form the Anglian Regiment. mar9/1
