13th Foot, Prince Albert’s Somerset Light Infantry. A good example of an officer’s 18mm gilt button with the mural crown above the regimental number and title worn in honour of their sevice at the Siege of Jellalabad in the First Afghan War. The button, with the backmark WILLIAM JONES & Co. 236 REGENT LONDON, is the pattern worn from 1855 to 1881, The gilt is a little dull but the design is not worn.  oct1/5  SOLD  14th October 2024
