14th King George’s Own Sikhs. An officer’s scarlet tunic 1919

The officer’s scarlet dress tunic of the 14th King George’s Own Ferozepore Sikhs has yellow facings and is in much better condition than usual with no sign of moth damage and a particularly clean and complete lining.There is a label on the inside of the intenal pocket of Ranken & Co. Calcutta, Simla, Lahore & Rawal Pindi. And at 13a George St. Hanover Sq. A. This is dated 1919 and indistinctly named to a Captain. The tunic has two collar badges, a Royal and Imperial Cypher surmounted by a Tudor crown and the Prince of Wales’s crest. It retains all the 25mm buttons, with the backmark HOBSON & SONS LEXINGTON ST. LONDON, 8 to the front and 6 to the coat tails, all with the patern of the regiment’s name K. G. O. SIKHS on a quoit around the number 14. The epaulettes have small screw back buttons and a major’s crown showing that the owner appears not to have had time after his promotion to get a new tunic made with the additional lace worn by field officers. The left breast has four loops for a medal or ribbon bar. apr24/1
