21st (Royal scots Fusiliers) Regt. of Foot. Officer’s gilt 25mm

An excellent example of the officer’s 25mm gilt button of the 21st ( Royal Scots Fusiliers) Regt. of Foot as worn from 1855 to 1881 when it became the 1st  & 2nd Bns. The Royal Scots Fusiers. It has the backmark FIRMIN & SONS. 153 STRAND LONDON & 13 CONDUIT ST. and retains virtually the full original gilt finish. This is the more elaborate version of the button with a scalloped rim. A variant has a plain rim. sep23/8
