25th Dragoons. Silvered NCO’S arm badge.

A silver plated badge of the 25th Dragoons on an oval ground measuring 51 x 46 mm. The badge consist of the regimental number XXV on scroll with the titke 25TH DRAGOONS beneath a king’s crown, all superimposed on crossed swords. This is the arm badge worn by an n.c.o. Badges of this cavalry regiment are rather scarce, partly because the regiment had a short live during and just after the Second World War, from 1941 until 1947 and also because it was raised in India at Sialkot where this badge was most likely to have been made. The regiment spent most of WW2 in India and Burma.    aug31/1
