25th (The King’s Own Borderers) Regt. of Foot, officer’s gilt 25mm

The officer’s tunic button is of 25mm size with the title  THE KING’S OWN BORDERERS around the large Victorian crown, with regimental number 25 beneath. This is the pattern worn from 1855 until 1881 when the 25th became the 1st & 2nd Bns. The King’s Own Scottish Borderers.  The backmark is JENNENS & Co. LONDON and the button retains most of the original gilt finish. One of our images shows the button alongside an other ranks brass version for comparative purposes.
