57th Regiment of Foot, West Middlesex. A good example of the officer’s gilt 25mm button with the backmark FIRMIN & SONS, LONDON. This is the pattern worn from 1855 to 1881 when the regiment became known as the 1st Bn. The Middlesex Regiment (The Duke of Cambridge’s Own). The gilt is rather dull but the button is not worn. dec9/2 SOLD December 2023
