59th (2nd Nottinghamshire) Regt. of Foot, officer’s 25mm gilt, 1855-1881
£30.00
An officer’s 25mm button of the 59th (2nd Nottinghamshire) Regiment of Foot with the backmark J. W. REYNOLDS & Co. 50 ST MARTINS LANE, LONDON. This is the pattern worn from 1855 until 1881 when the 59th became the 2nd Bn. The East Lancashire Regiment. The original gilt finish appears to have worn to a rather coppery finish although there is no noticeable rubbing. We never modify the photographs we take but the image seems to show a more gilt finish than the button. aug22/4
