A good example of the officer’s gilt 19mm button of the 61st (South Gloucestershire) Regt. of Foot which was worn from 1855 until 1881 when the regiment became the 2nd Bn. The Gloucestershire Regiment. This example has the backmark JENNENS & Co. LONDON and retains virtually all the original full gilt finish but there is a small spot of green (verdigris?) on the lower left part of the crown. sep23/5
