7th RAJPUTS. Dress tunic of Lt. Col. Arthur Charles Ogg, D.S.O.

A field officer’s scarlet tunic which belonged to Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Charles Ogg, D.S.O. of the 7th Duke of Connaught’s Own Rajputs and is complete with all regimental buttons [by Firmin & Sons of London], collar badges of Prince Arthur’s monogram beneath a Tudor crown surmounted by a lion. The condition is generally good with onlya very little damage to the lining and some suface damage to the cloth on the back of the tunic, which has been professionally cleaned fairly recently.
Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Charles Ogg, D.S.O. [1878-1954] was initially commissioned into The Dorset Regiment in 1899, entering the Indian Army the following year in the 7th Rajputs. Serving in Europe and Mesopotamia during WW1 he was awarded the D,S,O. on 18th August 1916. He has a memorial in Seaford Church and there are a few portraits visible on the internet. We have not researched his medal entitlement but the six loops on the left chest covering s length of 6½ inches suggest quite an impressive group, may28/2
