A good example of the officer’s 18mm gilt button of the 80th (Staffordshire Volunteers) Regiment of Foot with the backmark C. JENNENS LONDON The regiment was raised in 1793 and this button is the pattern worn on the officer’s coatee before 1856. After1881  the unit became the 2nd Bn. The South Staffordshire Regiment and the buttons worn 1855-1881 altered the design by moving the Staffordshire knot below the regimental number, The button retains a great amount of the original gilt finish. may30/1
