An early Victorian example of the officer’s 14mm gilt button of the 84th ( York and Lancaster ) Regiment of Foot. This example has a flat back without a mark and has the design 84 above a rose within a crowned wreath. It retains some of the original gilt but has suffered from some old rubbing. Squire plate 23 / 17 illustrates the button, dating it to 1830-55. nov18/4
