A handsome silver and hold plated cheroot case, 19th century

The attractive, highly decorative case, 5½ x 2¾ ins [14 x 6.8 cm], has very similar decoration to each side with elaborate scrolling gold plating against a textured silver plated background. The gusseted surrounds are in red leather and the interior is covered in watered silk. The button clasp works perfectly and the case is in excellent condition. It probably dates from the mid 19th century and could be wither French or English in manufacture. aug1/2
