A large bungalow on the East India Railway line, 1860s

A full plate albumen print, 11 x 8½ ins, on part of an old paper album page, titled in contemporary pencil K…. Bungalow E. I Ry …. Line. There are two European men seated on the verandah and a group of turbanned figures to the left. The enlargement of the figure by the gate pier gives a good idea of the scale, suggesting importance. The identification is also written in ink on the back of the print and visible from the reverse. An impression of it can be seen in the sky above the building.    apr28/9
