A named Scottish horn snuff mull

£65.00

An attractive, named Scottish snuff mull. overall width 5½ ins and height 3 ins, it lacks the horn lid but fortuntely the silver hinge and mount remains in good working order. Most of these mulls have a silver escutheon plate to the centre of the lid but this one would not have needed one as it has the owner’s name and town engraved around the rim, reading  William Hume Kirriemuir. The engraving looks to be in an early 19th century style. The ram’s horn is in excellent condition and the curl is pleasingly pronounced. aug27/1

Kirriemuir is a Burgh in Angus to the north of Glamis across the Strathmore river.
