A poignant post card of 1914 with royal origins

H.S.H. Prince Frederick of Teck. A coloured postcard of the Royal Horse Artillery postally used but with the stamp removed, addressed to His Serene Highness Prince Frederick of Teck, Frogmore Cottage, Windsor dated Oct. 1st 1914 and reads Darling Frederick, I thought you’d like this Rpyal Artillery soldier, so I send this card with my best love. Also writing to Ilena tomorrow. Yr. loving Mummy. mar8/1

H.S.H. Prince Frederick of Teck [1907-1940] was the second son of H.S.H Prince Adolphus, Duke of Teck.who married Lady Margaret Grosvenor and was created 1st Marquess of Cambridge. This card must have ben written shortly before the British Royal Family eschewed German titles. Lord Frederick was killed in action at {euven in Belgium in 1940 serving as a captain in the Coldsream Guards.
