Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. Volunteer officer’s, 19mm 22
£7.00
A good example of an officer’s 19mm button of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. This silver plated version was worn by officers of volunteer battalions in late Victorian years into the Edwardian era. The backmark is FIRMIN & SONS LD. LONDON. Although collectors tend to prefer large size buttons this small button is much scarcer. A Highland officer’s dress doublet for instance has 26 large buttons and only two small ones on the epaulettes. mar12/5
