BIKANER. H.H. Sir Ganga Singh, K.C.I.E, Maharaja of Bikaner, circa 1901

A particularly large and fine portrait of the young Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner taken shortly after his having been made a Knight Commander of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire in July 1901. In this bust length portrait by Herzog & Higgins, Mhow he wears the breast star and neck badge of that order on his lancer uniform. The portrait measures 11 x 7 ins and is mounted on a very thick photographer’s card 15 x 11¾.
