The metal top has diameter of approximately 1¼ ins [30mm] and would have formed the top half of the ‘ball’ style of top to a soldier’s cane. It is stamped from the iside with the regimental badge with the Victorian crown, dating it to the Boer War period or earlier. nov36/3
