Frontispiece, xiv, 14 pp photographic illustrations [most pages with m ore than one illustration], photographic plate of Blacker’s route map. two folding maps [the alrge coloured one of Persia and Afghanistan torn across a corner and now detached from the book and with minor damage at intersections of folds] 302pp, [ii publsiher’s list]. Original red cloth gilt with Guides badge blosked to front board, spine faded. A very clean copy with a boolplate [C. E. Rusbridge] to front pastedown but no other markings, a little damage to extreme top inner corner of first page of text which has been stuck to previous page at some point -shoen in an illustration. Now a scarce title of editions published in 1922. Blacker tells exciting narratives of adventures in dangerous areas of the Pamirs, where Afghan and Persian interests clashed and the Great Game was played out. The stuff of boys’ novels of the early 20th century but with the added value of bing true. apr18/3
