Cave-Brown-Cave. Armorial livery button with two crests, a greyhound & a stork

POA

CAVE-BROWN-CAVE. A very good and attractive late Victorian silver plated livery button with the family’s two crests: a greyhound courant with motto above GARDEZ  and a Stork proper. Beneath the crests is the shield with the baronets’ badge of a hand. The button probably dates from the time of Sir Mylles Cave-Brown-Cave [1822-1907] the 11th Baronet, who had served in the 11th Hussars. The open backed 28mm button has the backmark RICH SUPERIOR QUALITY.  The family’s  seat is Cawdor Castle, Nairn, Scotland.     feb14/2  SOLD 3rd December 2024
