A 25mm gilt brass livery button showing the crest of the Earl of Cork and Orrery – a lion’s head emerging from a ducal coronet. The closed back button has the backmark PITT & Co. 31 MADDOX ST. LONDON W and probably dates from the time of the 9th Earl, an ADC to Queen Victoria and Hon. Colonel of the North Somerset Yeomanry, or pehaps his son who succeeded in 1904. may14/2
