Delhi, the Red Fort, Lal Qila. The Elephant or King’s Gate.
£25.00
A vintage full plate photograph of the Elephant or King’s gate to Lal Qila, the Red Fort in old Delhi showing the magnificent carved stone elephants, This vintage photograph is curled as it was kept, as is often the case, with other photographs in a roll. It measures 8 x 10½ ins not including chips to the corners. It will be posted in a tube for later flattening. This is the gate through which State Entries to the city took place, as during the 1903 and 1911 Coronation Durbars. Personally I find the elephants more impressive in this original state than they are today when they have been coloured. feb1/3
