A full plate vintage press photograph, 12 x 9 ins, showing the elephant procession at the Pageant held at Calcutta on January 5th 1912 in the presence of the King Emperor George V & Queen Mary. The photograph has some creasing and minor damage around the edges but is richly toned. Reed: The King ands Queen in India [Bennett, Coleman, & Co. Bombay 1912] devotes chapter 17 to this event and shows other pictures but not this one. nov9/1
