ELIOCK. Lord Eliock. An attractive late 18th century bookplate with arms and crest of a bull’s head above the title in an oval cartouche, 93 x 67mm. Lord Eliock [1717-1793] was a scholarly Scot, son of William Veitch of Eliock (d. 1747), a Writer to the Signet. Sometime Sheriff Depute of Peebles. Sometime MP for Dumfries. Appointed Lord of Session as Lord Eliock in 1761. He was unmarried. may22/1
