FLETCHER of SALTOUN. A good Scottish livery button displaying the full coat of arms, 27mm gilt.

£12.00

A very good Scottish gilt 27mm open backed livery button of the head of the family Feltcher of Saltoun, directly descended from Sir Andrew Fletcher of Innerpeffer who purchased the Saltoun lands in East Lothian from the 9th Lord Saltoun in 1650. The arms of a cross fleury between scallop shells with griffin supporters and a bulldog crest are displayed in full and the button probably dates from the time of John Fletcher, 9th of Saltoun [1827-1903] . Athough the button is of fine quality it has no backmark.   may18/1
