Folding map of Germany, dissected, linen backed, coloured in outline, extending to 39 x 36ins when unfolded. The map folds down in 32 plates to a size of 9 x 5ins and fits into its original card slip case with publisher’s detailed labels in German to one side and French to the other. This is a rather early version of this Diez map and one which pre-dates the railway age. The map is in good, clean condition and retains marbled paper endpapers which match that on the card slipcase. Whilst the map concentrates on Germany and central Europe there is a small inset map of the Iberian peninsular The slip case is worn at the extremities with some areas of loss of outer paper covering and the card at the corners but the labels are intact and clear. There is an old ownership signature to the French label, oct24/1
