Gordon Highlanders, a good group portrait at their Aberdeen Depot, c 1920s

£38.00

A good clear photograph taken on a rainy day at Castle Barracks in Aberdeen. The soldiers are drawn up in front of their depot with a group of pipers and drummers. Several of the Highlanders wear WWI medals and the officer in command has a Military Cross. All ranks wear service dress with kilts. The partly coloured royal coat of arms above the entrance is particularly attractive. The photograph measures 11 x 6 ins and is mounted on part of an old album leaf. The reverse has an amateur watercolour street size of slightly larger size.      oct7/2
