The 23mm officer’s gilt button of the Governor General’s Bodyguard has the boldly simple design of the crest of the East India Company, a lion holding a crown, withn a wreath and surmounted by a Victorian crown. The button has the backmark JENNENS & Co. LONDON . The button retains most of the original gilt finish with just a little of the underlying metal bleeding through on the highest points of the design. The regiment was the senior cavalry regiment and saw considerable service in early days. aug/25/3
