Grand Tour relics. An incomplete box of early 19th century copies of ancient Sicilian coins

The box, 7½ ins square, is stamped in gilt pn the leather covering of the lid RACCOLTA DI MONETE SICILIANE The box contains a wooden tray with spaces for 20 coin impressions, each approximately 25mm each. Some of these are in good condition, in some cases they are in fragments. The design of the box suggests txhee were probably one or two other trays originally. We have in the past had many boxes of 1`9th century impronti but have not come across a box like this. jun5/2
