GWALIOR. A view of Durbar Hall in the Jai Vilas Palace

A large, 11¼ x 9½ ins, photograph of the magnificent Durbar Hall in the Jai Vilas Palace in the city of Gwalior. There is some creasing to the top left corner and marks on the verso where the image has been tipped to an olf album page. The framed portrait in the foreground is the Viceroy Lord Chelmsford [1916-21]. Phptographs of palace interiors are much less common than those of exteriors.  aug22/2

Provenance: The phptpgrapj came from a large  damaged album put together arsound 1940 but this image may be rather earlier.
