GWALIOR. H H Sir Madho Rao Scindia G.C.S.I., Maharaja of Gwalior

A 5¾ 4 ins. photographic portrait showing the Maharaja seated wearing ceremonial dress with the G.C.S.I. that he was awarded in 1895. He wears court dress with the typical Maratha butterfly style turban. It is mounted on very marked old card but the photograph is good. He inherited his position at the age of ten and ruled from 1886 to 1926 and was noted fro is closeness to the British crown, naming hos children George and Mary. feb17/2
