Nath, Ashok, M.A., FRGS: Izzat. Historical Records and Iconography of Indian Cavalry Regiments 1750-2009. Centre for Armed Forces Historical Research Unitxed Services Institution of India [New Delhi, India] 2009. 1st edition quarto [12¼ x 8¼ ins] 1st edition of which 500 copies were printed.

[10pp contents etc], x, 828pp]. Original green cloth gilt with dust wrapper, all edges gilt, as new]. This copy remains in packaging as received from the publisher and our illustrations are from our working copy. I believe this to be the best single source for this subject to be currently available, the work of many years of research and labour. The pattern of the book is to provide a brief history of the regiment, an extremely useful list of its varying titles over the years, folowed by a few pages of momchrome illustrations of its badsges and buttons from photographs and drawings. Section 1 [404pp] covers the period 1750-1921 including disbanded regiments; Section 2 [pp406-512] covers the later British period from 1921-1947; Section 3 [pp514-828 covers deals with the Arnoured Corps of independent India and Pakistan, an Appendix & Index.   aug30/3

Note: A work which we could not now do without, which we imagine will in time become a great rarity as it is unlikely to be re-printed easily.
