Major General Sir Vincent Eyre, K.C.S.I., C.B. , A good and  bust length photograph, 117 x 90 mm by Maull & Fox. tipped to an old page from a volume of the Army & Navy Magazine 1881. Eyre wears the military uniform of a Major General with decorations including a large neck badge and the star of the Order of the Star of India. Sold with a page of biographical text from the volume. Eyre is best known today fro his popular book on the Escape from Kabul, During the Mutiny he commanded the Arrah Field Force for which service he was promoted lieutenant colonel and awarded a C.B.    oct26/1
