SHERER, Major General Joseph Ford: The Unbroken Record of the Services of Three Generations in Her Majesty’s Indian Army. Privately printed for family and friends. No publication date or details but after his retirement to the Channel Islands with the Brevet of Major General. 20pp plus plain paper covers stapled as issued.

The first page, by Sherer, briefly records the services of his grandfather, father, and himself [all having risen to the rank of general officer]. The rest of the useful record comprises copied letters, statements and reports from official Army and Government documents regarding his services during the Indian Mutiny when he was appointed to the Sylhet Light Infantry serving on the N.E. Frontier. He had joined the 49th Bengal N.I. on arrival in India and almost immediately saw service at the battle of Mooltan. mar25/1
