18th Foot (The Royal Irish). A 20mm other ranks pewter button in relic condition, perhaps dug from a battlefield. The deign is an Irish harp beneath a Georgian or early Victorian crown. The off centre numeral 1 means that this must be the 18th. The iron shank has been squashed. It may be possible to find a maker’s mark if the remaining earth were to be removed. apr20/5
