King’s Own (1st Staffordshire) Militia, c 1805-30, 19mm

The 19mm officer’s gilt button has the design of the regiment’s initials K O with Staffordshire knot below and Georgian crown above. The domed button is open backed with the backmark C. JENNENS LONDON . It is in very good condition although the shank has been broken off and there is solder on the end where a repair has been attempted.       may8/2

The regiment was a favourite of King George III and spent most of the Revolutionary & Napoleonic Wars guarding Royal residences, being rewarded in 1805 with title King’s Own.
