LICHFIELD. Livery button with full Anson arms of the Earl of Lichfield, silver plated 25mm

A good 25mm silver plated button showing the full arms of the Earl of Lichfield, head of the Anson family whose Staffordshire seat is Shugborough Hall. The interesting arms have one supporter of a sea horse and one of a lion. The button has the backmark FIRMIN LONDON and probably dates from late Victorian or Edwardian times. The late 5th Earl, better known as Patrick Lichfield  a highly successful society photographer, was a 1st cousin once removed of  H.M. Queen Elizabeth II through his mother, Princess Anne of Denmark.      sep2/4  SOLD 27th September 2024
