A rare example of a small item of uniform from the Governor’s Body-Guard, Madras, being a light weight khaki tropical shoulder epaulette carrying a major’s crown above the unit’s embroidered unit’s M.G.B.G. The unit ranked in seniority only to the Governor General’s Body-Guard and we attach an illustration from our reference copy of The Indian Army List 1940 [about the date of this item] showing the composition of the unit which at that time had as its Commandant Major A. G. N. Curtis, 6th Duke of Connaught’s Own Lancers (Watson’s Horse). dec16/3
