The bust length carte de visite by Bourne & Shepherd shows John Luther Vaughan [1820 – 1911] as a youngish ma in civilian clothes. Later uniform images to be found on the internet all show the same very prominent nose and fashionable drooping moustache. This card came in an album put together by General Sir Peter Lumsden who met most of the notable military figures in India during his long career. mar21/5
