Pitching Camp, Aosungabad, Madras. A small watercolour, circa 1870s
£35.00
A small watercolour, 5½ x 4 ins, showing a view of a tented camp with a workman hammering a tent peg. Two men can be seen in the open flap of a tent and a horse grazes to the left. The watercolour itself is in good condition but it is pasted to a piece of old album page which is chipped and torn at the edges. The identification above the sletch clearly reads Aosungabad, Madras although we cannot locate this. Other pencil writing on the album paper is not very clear but adds Nerbudda after the ink title. aug26/6
