PLYMOUTH. Crested livery button of the Earl of Plymouth, 25mm silver plated
£10.00
A silver plated 25mm button with two crests of The Earl of Plymouth. The button has the two Windsor-Clive crests of a griffin and a stag’s head and has the unusual backmark R. LILLICO, 1 MADDOX ST. LONDON W. There is a little of the underlying copper blezeding through on the high points of the design. The button probably dates from the time of Robert George Wondsor-Clive [b. 1857] who served variously in the 3rd Bn. The Welsh Regt. and 8th Bn. The Worcestershie Regt. Family seats are St Fagan’s Castle, Cardiff & Hewell Grange, Worcestershire. may17/2
