Pottery. A vey small plate, unusually transfer printed in brown.

The appealing, small plate [90 mm / 3¾ ins diameter] plate is in very good condition. It is transfer printed with an antique scene of figures in front of a building reminiscent of an oriental chhatri. Although such scenes are commonly printed in blue I have encountered few in brown. I do own a large, early 19th century meat dish decorated with willow pattern in brown but have not seen others. The discolouration on the back of this plate st 6 o’clock seems to have occurred in firing but is not a crack. jan2/1.

This has been in my private collection but I have run out of space and will be gradually selling off some items I cannot display.
