RIDLEY. A crested livery button of The Viscount Ridley, 26mm

£6.00

A silver plated 26mm button of The Viscount Ridley. It shows the family crest of a bull beneath the motto, CONSTANS FIDEL and it may predate 1900, when Matthew White Ridley, Member of Parliament and hon colonel of the Northumberland Hussars was raised to the peerage. The Northumbrian familhy had been baronets wince the 1750s. The date would account for the absence of a coronet.   may14/4
