Royal Victorian Order. Miniature of a Companion of the Order, C.V.O.
£60.00
A gilt metal and enamel miniature of a Companion of the Royal Victorian Order, C.V.O., with king’s crown. A very important order, taking percedence just after the Imperial Order of the Crown of India, in the personal gift of the sovereign for outstanding service to the monarch or the Royal Family. Elsewhere in this category you can find an example of the slightly smaller badge of the fourth & fifth class of the Order which does not have the arms of the cross enamelled in white. The Order was quite often awarded to Indian rulers and high officials, British and Indian – particularly during Royal Tours of India. dec10/9
