Silver button of the Bramham Moor Hunt, large 23mm, silver hallmarked.
POA
The attractive flat silver Victorian 23mm button of the Bramham Moor Hunt is engraved with a running fox beneath the word Forward. The reverse is hallmarked with duty head of Queen Victoria and date letter X with maker’s mark J. B. but, frustratingly, there is no town mark. This is the last of a few other similar buttons but by different makers and those datable to around 1850-60. The date letter does not seem to conform with any from the main hallmarking centres and London, Chester, and Sheffield never used the letter. A mystery for the next owner to solve. In recent years the Yorkshire hunt has been combined with The Badsworth. oct6/ SOLD 12th October 2024
