Skinner’s Horse, 3rd Bengal Cavalry. officer’s silver plated 14mm
£16.00
The officer’s 14mm silver plateed button is the pattern of the 3rd Bengal Cavalry used on the mess waistcoat. It has the usual crossed lances beneath an imperial crown but the scrolls are blank. The style of crown suggest late Victorian or Edwardian in period. It came with other sizes of officer’s buttons of the regiment so we are confident of the attribution. There is no maker’s backmark. One of the most famous of Indian cavalry regiments, named after its Anglo-Indian founder James Skinner, the 3rd wore a most distinctive uniform of bright yellow earning it the nickname of the Yellow Boys. jan25/1
